Millions of jobs will be created if regulations for scrapping old vehicles are put in place. Plastic, rubber, glass, fabric, technology, and metal industries will get a boost from the auto sector and will benefit from increased demand, said Jindal.
Scrap imports business increased by 35 percent in the first half this year to 3.87 million tonnes. Shipments from the United Arab Emirates were up 27 percent to 7,11,544 tonnes while that of the UK more than doubled to 5,30,104 tonnes, according to Ministry of Commerce data.
